Hooper served 11 years in the U.S. Army as an 88 mike (transportation) during which he had multiple deployments to Iraq and Afghanistan. He was injured with a traumatic brain injury in Iraq as well. He decided to pursue an education in Information Technology.

“Warrior Battalion is proud to support military family members through healing programs,” said Warrior Battalion President and founder, Troy Yocum. “We are proud to partner with Sullivan University and help military families receive a higher education that will lead to a better life.”

“Sullivan University is proud to partner with the Warrior Battalion to offer this scholarship in support of our veterans and their families,” said Senior Director of Admissions and Marketing, Eric Short.

“We assist veterans to prepare for fulfilling careers after military service, with emphasis on business and technology-related fields. Our objective is to enhance the educational and professional development of veterans.”

Why we give the Warrior Battalion Scholarship:

A 2014 VA study shows that 20 veterans take their own lives each day. This number is down from 22 a day because of nonprofits like Warrior Battalion that provide national healing programs including the Warrior Battalion Scholarship. While veterans represent less than 8% of the national population, veterans represent almost 25% of the national suicide rate. Warrior Battalion has already saved veterans from committing suicide, but the work continues because one veteran suicide is one too many.

About Warrior Battalion:

Warrior Battalion is a national 501(c)(3) charitable organization with a mission to reduce veteran suicide in every state. Warrior Battalion provides national healing programs, events, national peer mentors and is developing Retreat Homes for military families.  Learn more at www.WarriorBattalion.org.
